DAN HINKLEY
"Underused Woody Plants for the Puget Landscape"
Saturday, April 5, 1:00 pm
From Sinocalycanthus to Sinofranchetia, Dan will underscore the importance of
planting structural elements in the garden while emphasizing a number of trees,
shrubs and vines that deserve more use in our gardens, bringing effects of
foliage, fruit, flower and bark throughout the seasons. Dan will also field
questions about appropriate plants for specific sites in your garden, many of
which will be available at Bainbridge Gardens. No class fee; we present our
special guests at no fee to you as part of our
50th Anniversary Celebration.
Please note: There will be no pre-registration for this class, however, you
must check in at the main desk on the day of the class to pick up a

Celebrate April
Earth Day is April 22.
Start a compost bin for Earth Day or choose a
project with the kids from our toy department. Create a worm farm or learn how
to make your own paper. We have great Science Fair projects too.
National Arbor Day is April 25.
National Arbor Day, a tree-planting holiday
started by a Nebraska man in the 1870's, is the last Friday in April. Every
state has their own Arbor Day, based on tree-planting weather. Washington's is
the second Wednesday in April. Whichever Arbor Day you celebrate, let us help
you find a tree that will flourish in your landscape.
