In summer heat, perk up weary plants with freshly brewed Soil Soup Compost Tea.  Try SoilSoup on lawns, beds and borders as well as hanging baskets and containers.  Never used Soil Soup before?  Come in and ask for application tips and info.

3  Protect your skin from the summer sun.  Many of our hats feature wide brims and offer UPF50+.

  4  Sunscreen wipes are easy-to-apply & great for on-the-go. Featured in Oprah’s “Love It” section of her magazine.

5  Tabiano soap from Italy cleanses overheated
and oily skin.

          7  Fall vegetable starts begin arriving in mid-August.  Plant lettuce,
spinach, leeks, cabbage, and chard.

      9 Gorgeous garden grasses are coming into their own in the   late summer sun.

10 Keep mosquitoes away!  We have citronella pretty enough for the tabletop.   Try placing citronella tealights in little pots on the deck rails or long-burning pillars in handsome  lanterns on
 

          

13  Trim back lavenders, snipping off about 20–25% of the new growth to keep plants bushy and full

14  Harvest herbs for tea or kitchen use early in the morning.  Dry the leaves out of
direct light, then clean away stems and browned foliage before storing in bottles out of direct light, or freeze in airtight bags.

            
17  On Sunday, August 17th,  please join us as the Bainbridge Island Historical Society honors the history of the Island Center community through an event called “Snapshots of Island Center.”  This old-fashioned social will  feature the photographs, stories and memories shared by past and present Island Center families.  Refreshments will be served.    21

Bainbridge Island’s  Tree Frog Community Chorus comes to Bainbridge Gardens for a free live performance at 2 pm.
