Town and Country Florist on Winslow Way.
Junkoh at work.
This year marks our 50th year in business here on Bainbridge
Island. Junkoh and Chris Harui started Town and Country Florist in a 900-sq.-ft.
space next to
Town and Country Market in Winslow in 1958. Some of you may remember when we
moved our store to the middle of Winslow Way and then, in the 70's to the
"Village"
along Hwy. 305, and in 1989, to our present location at Bainbridge Gardens.
2008 also marks 100 years of Harui family history on Bainbridge
Island. Junkoh's father, Zenhichi, and his family established the original
Bainbridge Gardens as a
pre-WWII destination point. Seeing the plants and trees that you've planted grow
along with our beautiful Island is a treasure and we are humbled by your
long-standing support.
We are planning a year-long celebration, starting with a terrific
line-up of noted garden experts: Ann Lovejoy, Ed Hume, Dan Hinkley, and Ciscoe
Morris. Because we anticipate a solid turnout for such popular speakers,
please note the special ticketing procedures on the "Classes and Special Events"
pages. More guests are scheduled in the coming months and we are planning
giveaways, door prize drawings and other special events this year.
